May 17, 2020 (IANSlife) Swedish-origin home furnishings company IKEA, in a bid to advocate for a fairer and more equal world, is celebrating the International Day Against Homophobia, Transphobia and Biphobia (IDAHOT) on Sunday.

Through a tribute campaign, #BeSomeonesHome, the company said it is committed to advocate for a fairer and more equal world and workspace where LGBT+ people feel welcomed, respected, and appreciated for who they are.

Core to its value, IKEA promotes equality and making its workspaces safe for people from all walks of life, it said, adding that in India as well, they are creating a strong foundation for diversity, equality and inclusion – creating opportunities for the many, being fair and equal, and supporting all co-workers through these challenging COVID-19 times.

Parineeta Cecil Lakra, Country People and Culture Manager at IKEA India said, “IKEA India is a value driven company. People are always our priority. We aim to provide an inclusive workspace for everyone who is a part of IKEA. People can be themselves at IKEA. We want to stand up against discrimination of LGBT+ people, break the silence and promote equal rights on May 17 and every day.”
