December 25, 2021 (IANSlife) In a new analysis, women-first dating and social networking app, Bumble, detailed how single Indians dated in 2021, from showing dating preferences and choices when it comes to finding a spouse  to expressing their beliefs, qualities, and relationships.

Building meaningful relationships online reigned supreme in 2021, with over one billion matches made on the App globally, up more than 25 percent from the previous year. With continued lockdown and social distance restrictions, an increased desire for social connections in 2021 was observed. As singles all across the world prepared for the commencement of a major "online dating season," the highest number of messages were exchanged between October and early November in 2021.

"Exercise," "Date Intentions," "Drinking," and "Education" are among the most popular Bumble Profile Badges in India.

The year 2021 was the year of deliberate dating, with singles seeking to form more lasting connections than ever before. It's not surprise that "Dating Intentions" was one of the most popular filters among users in 2021 as they looked for potential mates with similar dating goals before starting a discussion on the app. The majority of single individuals in India (54 percent) are more conscious of how and when they date, therefore we predict the intentional dating trend to continue in 2022.

The top three interest categories for India's Gen Z and Millennial users in 2021, after the launch of the App's Interest Badges in March, were "Film and TV," "Food and Drink," and "Sports."

In 2021, the top two genres chosen by Indians who used the "Film and TV" Interest Badge on their Bumble profiles were action & adventure and comedy. Anime was the most popular genre among Gen Z, while Bollywood was another popular choice among Millennials.

In 2021, Bumble users in India prioritised finding a partner with common values and goals by using Filters like "Photography," "Coffee," "Dogs," "Pubs," and "Cooking."

  • While cooking, video games, and gardening were some of the most popular "staying in" activities, pubs and nightclubs, cafe hopping, and stand-up were the top "going out" activities for the Bumble community in India.
  • Based on those who selected "Values and allyship" as an interest, "environmentalism," "feminism," and "LGBTQIA+ ally" were the top choices for Indians on Bumble profiles.
  • Beaches were the top choice for Indians on Bumble, followed by road and hiking trips, ranking as some of the top travel activities in 2021.

When it comes to dating, a sense of humour and an open mind go a long way. According to individuals who adopted the "Values and Attributes" Interest Badge on the app, these two traits are the most important traits for Bumble users worldwide, followed by Empathy.

The Bumble community continues to be fascinated with zodiac signs. Leos have the best love luck in the world. In India, they had the highest number of matches of any star sign, followed by Scorpio and Libra.

Compatibility was an important component for daters this year, as evidenced by the top Profile Prompts. Here are some of the most popular Profile Prompts in India for starting a conversation with a possible match:

  • We’ll get along if...
  • The quickest way to my heart is...
  • "Favourite quality in a person"
  • "Perfect first date"

In 2021, the following question games will be the most popular on Bumble:

  • What’s the first thing you find attractive in someone?
  • "What’s your go-to comfort food?"
  • "What is something you’re currently obsessed with?"
