January 09, 2023 (IANSlife) For the 11th iteration of Mumbai Gallery Weekend 2023, TAO Art Gallery will present a special exhibition titled "Unstructured Pursuit of Perspectives" in partnership with HIMS Academy, Germany. The exhibition, which is being organised by Sanjana Shah, will feature works by up-and-coming modern artists Rajesh Wankhade & Smita Kinkale. From January 12-January 15, 2023, from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m., the show debuts as a part of the four-day preview at MGW 2023. It will remain on display until January 31, 2023. (January 16-January 31, from 11am to 7pm).

Tao's most recent show, a significant fixture of Mumbai's contemporary art scene and MGW roster, emphasises the universal human quest for enlightenment. By "un-structuring" their works, both artists induce analogies across perspectives in the minds of their audiences.

On Saturday, January 14, 2023, the gallery will host Tilia-Quartet of Staatskapelle Berlin in an effort to honour many types of art (6:00-7:30 pm). The Staatskapelle Berlin's four young musicians will perform well-known works by Franz Schubert, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, and Felix Mendelssohn-Bartholdy. The Tilia Quartet, which derives its name from Berlin's Staatsoper Unter den Linden (Tilia is Latin for Linden Tree), has given a number of critically lauded performances both domestically and abroad.

"Disillusionment causes the breaking and re-making of who we imagined ourselves to be. However, the human capacity to look beyond, despite the chaos within, is beautiful and necessary for growth and new perspective. Artists Smita Kinkale and Rajesh Wankhade, in their extremely different and distinctive mediums, explore just this fundamentality of existence. The works are layered by not just materiality but also in thought, challenging notions of time and space, presence and absence" says Sanjana Shah, Creative Director of Tao Art Gallery.

Smita employs layers of plastic to create visual representations of experience art, taking inspiration from the way plastic is used in the hamlet where she grew up. Her "Neo Nature" television series aims to educate the audience about her new environment and open their minds to sensitive consciousness. Rajesh adopts a more representational style in his art, drawing inspiration from spiritual joy. His more figurative works show movement between several realms above the physical, with human figures passing through various stages of disintegration.

Speaking about his artwork and inspiration, Wankhade says, "I live in this stream of thought every day. A lot of questions arise, and they try to solve them. And then, instead of studying the world, it is expected to study oneself. Then the focus is on itself. And while exploring oneself internally, a thesis was formed. The vision of seeing oneself with a scientific body matured. So human figures in search of knowledge started appearing in my paintings. The human form in my paintings is always in search ofknowledge. Such knowledge that beyond that knowledge, there is no turning back. He strivesto find the ultimate end of giving. So in my painting, space and time got a place. The clock came as a symbolic form of time."

Kinkale says, "I have always captured my imagination in lines, dots and primitive shapes through many layers with a combination of polyethene. It reflects my growing up in a rural backdrop and my tribal roots. The material I select for my works has a tactile appeal. I create and make references to the images of my work which is a subconscious reaction which I lived but also transformed to other new spaces."

The display, which is rife with the juxtaposition of abstraction and figurative imagery, cleverly examines the idea of what is material and what is spiritual and how they can be interchanged. By dismantling the current inflexible narratives regarding the functions of matter and the responsibilities of humankind, the ultimate objective is to demonstrate the unified condition of everything.

Tao has planned High Tea with PD Dr. Eva Wattolik, a senior lecturer at the Institute of Art History at Friedrich-Alexander-University Erlangen Nürnberg, Germany, for Thursday, January 12, 2023, to further ensure that the audiences have an engaging art experience over the grand artsy weekend (2 - 4 pm).
