September 27, 2021 (IANSlife) Trends come and go, but the dupatta is a traditional constant. Gone are the days when the dupatta was exclusively regarded as a shalwaar-kurta staple. From trousers to dhotis, a dupatta can be worn with or as anything.

Kavita Gupta, gives you style tips on how to drape your dupatta differently for the Navratri season.

As a Poncho

Begin by wearing a body-hugging noodle strap top with jeans, followed by a colorful embroidered dupatta and a few safety pins to create your dupatta poncho. Choose a chiffon dupatta that is either simple or patterned. Fold it in half to make a square. Using another deep-V-neck shirt or kurta, mark the neckline of your original garment. After you've drawn the neckline with chalk, cut it out and sew it up by folding the cloth inside. You may now sew the dupatta from the side to create a baggy poncho, or you can wear it with a belt and go out.

As a Top

If you're tired of wearing the same old shirts, try draping a dupatta over it. Only a few folds and knots are required. Safety pins, pearl pins, and other ornamental add-ons are all that is required, after which you'll have a ready-to-wear shirt.

As a Jacket

You can always use your dupatta as a jacket without trimming or stitching it. Using a dupatta as a blazer can be stunning and quite versatile. The style and material of the dupatta are all that matters, whether it's part of a formal bridal ensemble or a casual family gathering.

Indo- Western Look

Wear your denim with a crop top, take a bandhani dupatta with mirror work, create pleats in it, and drape it over your right shoulder. Take the loose end and tuck it into the denim. Adding an ethnic waist chain and a big neckpiece.
