Lot 601 – Rabindranath Tagore (1861 - 1941) – Untitled (Couple)

The importance of this painting executed in early 1930 cannot be overstated. It is one of the largest works by the artist (56,8 x 45,7cm) to feature at an auction. It has been with the same family for over 90 years and the fact that the owner and artist shared a personal friendship, just adds to the intrinsic value of this work. I also like the subject very much.

Lot 603 – Jamini Roy (1887 - 1972) – Untitled (Seated Lady)

One of the most sensitive and beautifully painted works by Roy. I love the colour, composition and expression of the lady. Again, it is coming from a private collection and has never been offered at auction before.

Lot 633 – Akbar Padamsee (1928 - 2020) – Untitled (Mirror Image)

The sheer size of this work from 2005 (121,9 x 243,8cm) and the artist’s mastery of colour and composition, I think if you have one painting like this in your collection, you don’t need much more!

Lot 639 – Bhupen Khakhar (1934 - 2004) Tree in a Walled Garden

I am personally a big fan of Bhupen Khakhar, his work and his own personal journey as an artist. This is an earlier canvas from around 1967 and it is a jewel. Also from a private collection and its being offered at auction for the first time.

Lot 664 – Sakti Burman (1935) Last Supper – A rare opportunity for anyone who likes Sakti Burman’s works to collect an early painting of 1966 of an incredibly important subject!

Lot 671 – N.S. Bendre (1910-1992) Untitled (Three Women) – The image says it all! Such a beautiful painting, it is a fine example of the artist's oeuvre.
